Elevated Thanksgiving Sides

We love the traditional Thanksgiving sides, but we wanted to elevate the classics this year. From green bean casserole to stuffing, we’ve got all the sides covered with a modern twist!

First up in our series was Green Bean Casserole. We love this recipe because it uses fresh green beans and mushrooms. The sauce is creamy and tangy with the addition of goat cheese. More goat cheese and crispy fried onions are the finishing touches to this dish!

cranberry sauce

Next was our Easy & Elevated Cranberry Sauce. We love making cranberry sauce from scratch. It’s almost as easy as opening a can but so much more delicious. The tart cranberries are lightly sweetened with warm spices and citrus. This cranberry sauce is always a hit at our Thanksgiving table.

mashed potatoes

Next was these incredible Elevated Mashed Potatoes with Fried Sage. The mascarpone makes for extra creamy, dreamy mashed potatoes, and the fried sage with brown butter topping is so simple but so elegant. We’ll be making these potatoes for many years to come!

sweet potatoes

For our next side, we made these Maple Roasted Sweet Potatoes. Roasting the potatoes brings out their natural sweetness. Instead of traditional marshmallows the additional sweetness comes from real maple syrup. But then balsamic vinegar and lots of caramelized shallots bring a new depth of savory flavor to the dish.

stuffing

Finally, we elevated one of our favorite sides, stuffing, with this Herb & Apple Bread Pudding. Unlike traditional stuffing that can be very dry, this bread pudding is soft and moist, and the Gruyere topping forms a beautiful crust. We used rosemary bread from Whole Foods and baked ours in a muffin pan to make single servings. This one was a huge hit with our crew!
